Its a little strange that they don't list a combined read/write mode So, in theory I would think, you could take an 8 Tb drive or larger and split that into NTFS partitions of 4 Tb each, as long as you didn't exceed a total of 8 partitions.

I suspect that the limits are presented in a read / write fashion for instances where the drive partition is meant solely for download or upload purposes.. And Linux, like every other non-Windows OS, has always had questionable support for NTFS writes.. Ext2/ext3/ext4 are (the most common) Linux filesystems Don't forget that the RT-AC68U runs Linux.. (I believe MacOS X, to this day, does not support NTFS writes) So the 'questionable support' may mean that writes are not supported on bigger volumes while read-only operation is.. Frankly, I would not run NTFS in any environment where something other than Windows is writing to the drive.
